You are the architect, so you will dwell in what you build
News on the number of suicides and self-inflicted injuries, consumption of drugs by so-called role models in the recent past has made most of us realize that possession of a plastic smile and a beautifully toned body are not the sources of happiness.
What on the other hand man is seeking is pleasure, but not happiness. Happiness is सच्चिदानन्द a Sanskrit word for which there is no verbatim meaning in English vocabulary. Thus trainers of Indian origin as well as the other origins often confuse and get confused in explaining their audiences and their followers by preaching happiness and pleasure as synonyms.
Wealth may give rise to anything but pleasure and satisfaction. Had that been the case, we should not be hearing celebrities acting on movies and public platforms with different roles on the silver screen end their character and lives under the influences of narcotics, drugs, and chemicals.
We know happiness comes from within. So, it is important to understand, wherefrom does pleasure come? When pain is got rid of, pleasure is secured. A man should bring under his control the source of pleasure and pain. More than pleasure, it is pain that awakens wisdom in man. If you study the lives of great men, you find that it is out of trouble and pain that they derived wisdom. Without sorrow, there can be no wisdom. It is pain that teaches many wise lessons to man. Not realizing this profound truth, man pursues pleasure endlessly. No doubt man needs to be happy. But how is happiness to be achieved? It is only when sorrow is overcome, a man realizes happiness. Hence everyone should welcome sorrow in the same spirit in which they greet happiness. Every man has his origin in Truth. He is sustained by Truth and merges in Truth. He is the embodiment of Truth. When every individual recognizes this truth, the whole world will be permeated by Truth.
You
are the architect of your own pleasure & pain. Hence you should face with equanimity
whatever happens to you, be it good or evil.
