Hindu Temples: The places to be proud of

The Hindu temple is a representation of the cosmos and the mystery of time. Temples were not mere places of worship but much much more than that. Anna daana is still a major objective of Hindu temples. Tirupati feeds over 100,000 devotees each day free. The per-day cost is Rs. 3 million. ISKCON feeds about 2 million people the free everyday world over in 60 different countries. Akshaya Patra feeds about 1.8 million children every day The Padmanabhaswamy temple is considered the wealthiest Hindu temple in the world with a wealth of 20 billion dollars. What made the temples so rich?

The general belief is that temples are rich because the Rajas were handing over large amounts of money to these temples, but have been seed money, but one of the reasons these temples have a lot of gold was in fact, they functioned as banks and we have copper plates and a lot of the copper plate remains of a contract between the guilds.

So there were merchant guilds, there were artisan guilds and they had contracts. Then there were contracts between the merchant guilds and the financiers, which were the temples and that was the kind of structure in which much of this was going on.

Temples were architectural marvels, places of worship, culture, social centers, place of trade, which played a pivotal role in preserving wisdom, culture, knowledge, and made India a GOLDEN BIRD. Think before you demand of hospitals where temples were situated.
